On Beginnings: Why I am Starting This Blog & What It Will Be About

I'm beginning this blog as I've recently become interested in health and wellness from a consumer's perspective with a marketer's eye. I am going to take you, yes, on my journey as I discover, research, evaluate, and reveal what it really looks like out there, and how we can all make the best decisions when it comes to our well-being.

A little bit about my background: I work for a digital health and wellness company, Saagara. I do marketing research, implement branding strategies, and surprise - I write all kinds of things! In addition, I teach writing (and thinking) at a local community college, and I hold a non-paid position as a writer of my own memoir.

I've always been interested in health and wellness from a fair lady's perspective. I exercised 3-5 times per week; I stayed away from sweets as best as I could; I ate fruits and vegetables as they appealed to me; I took a multivitamin on a good day; I drank as much water as I could tolerate. By many people's standards, this looks good. And as they looked, I appeared healthy.

However, as I've worked for Saagara, I have taken note of  the other components that make a person healthy. I've learned how deep breathing works-- how it helps reduce stress, reduce weight, and become focused and energized. I've learned that there really is a large difference between organic and conventional produce-- not just the price tag! The list goes on.

In addition, I have done a fair amount of  my own personal research on health and wellness. I'd like this blog to be a place where I can build a community of health and wellness awareness where we can all gain a developed understanding of our bodies and environment. Of course, with that knowledge, we will focus on how to be a smart consumer for our bodies/minds and environment.

I hope you enjoy reading! Please participate in the postings/discussions!
